Me, I used to think I'd live forever
I’d never be weak
But, youth slipped away
The moment I stopped living my life from day to day
In you I see how silly I've been
And more how I should be alive!
Dying to live and living 'till I die
In a lifetime of seasons of friendship and treason
I will remember you well
When the final bell rings and the fat lady sings
I'll say, “is it forever already?”
Me, I don't know
We get ugly so fast
Smart so slow
Though even this fool can see
Far more days here than years dear
And that means breathing free
As I can breath
In a lifetime of seasons of friendship and treason
I will remember you well
When the final bell rings
And the fat lady sings
I'll say is it forever already?
When the curtain falls
And my number is called
I'll say is it forever already?

Behind The Song...
Is It Forever Already?
“Is It Forever Already” was written soon after I was informed a good friend of mine, at the age of 23, had developed Cancer. We had written songs together and he was one of my first real musical partners in my endeavor to create original music.
The story has a fantastic ending...he fully recovered and my mind was opened up to what was truly important in life.
Around this time there was an unrelated incident that also made its way to the song stew. While working installing jet fuel pipe at the American Airlines terminal at Kennedy airport I meet a very wise backhoe operator who said to me one day, as I was likely running around manic, “relax... there are far more days than years”.
This song tries to convey an approach to life that embraces living in the moment.
